EDINBURGH GOLF – GOLF IN THE PARK 2015
Edinburgh Golf will be running ‘Golf in the Park’ again this year on Saturday 4th July.
The event is being held at Bruntsfield Short Hole Course in the Meadows, which is where Royal Burgess and Bruntsfield started their golfing lives, and the plaque on the outside of the Golf Tavern shows that golf, in some form, was being played there in 1459.
This year’s event will be spilt into two courses, Zone A for the main event of 18 holes with a play-off hole if necessary and Zone C for the Steven Gallacher Foundation (SGF) which will include times for the SGF kids, adult and junior teams, and the general public under the guidance of a PGA Pro.
The main event will be split into three time sections with a shotgun Texas Scramble format starting at 10.00, 12.30 and 15.00. Each time section will have prize-winners and will be presented with their prizes at 12.15 and 14.45 and 17.15 and the main prize will be presented to the overall winners at 17.30
Steven Gallacher Foundation (SGA) event will be begin play at 10.00 on a rolling time basis in 7 minute time slots starting with SGF kids, then Adult and Junior, then SGF Kids then Public teams under the guidance of a PGA and then back to SGF Kids again etc. etc.
The main sponsor will be Aberdeen Asset Management this year and we are also hoping to let everyone enjoy the experience of using Hickory Golf Clubs by playing with the clubs of yester-year in full view of the sponsors at the 10th hole on the course
We are looking to have all 18 holes sponsored on the day as well.h
The City of Edinburgh Council, Visit Scotland, the R&A, the SGU, the European Tour as well as Club Golf, Golfing for Kids and Tee off Times are committed to the event this year and we are also wanting to secure a DJ with mobile stage for the whole day and have media coverage with Sky Sports, Edinburgh TV, Radio Forth and local newspapers and magazines as well
The management of the Golf Tavern have agreed to allocate the upstairs function room in the pub for our sponsors and will also provide a marquee(s) on the day for our use as well. They have also agreed to host the catering again this year and will open up at 9.00am to be ready for the first competitors arriving from 9.30 onwards for a bacon roll and coffee and they will also provide a free soft drink and a hamburger roll for each of the competitors throughout the day. A BBQ will be made available again this year for the purchase of food and drink for all the spectators throughout the day as well.
