Please see the message below from Inspector Liz Duthie from Police Scotland:
There have been three bogus workmen incidents recently in the Oxgangs and Currie areas.
Bogus workmen have spoken to the elderly occupiers and claimed that they were there to either check the roof or that there was damage to the roof and have been allowed to enter the house and go in to the attic area to examine the alleged damage. Bogus workmen have then informed the occupiers that work is required to fix roof damage. Enquiries to date have established that money was exchanged on one occasion,
There will be a media release by Police Scotland.
CID will be investigating these incidents and liaising with Trading Standards.
Officers have been tasked with carrying out patrols and to carry out checks on work vehicles.
