Kingsknowe Joins Local Community Sports Hub

Kingsknowe Golf Club is now a member of the South West Edinburgh Community Sports Hub.   Established at Heriot Watt University in April 2013, the Community Sport Hub is part of a national project to raise the capacity of sport in Scotland.   Community Sport Hubs,  sportscotland’s contribution to the Scottish Government’s 2014 legacy plan, aim to increase the number of people of all ages participating in sport and physical activity in local communities across Scotland.  For further information on the Hub itself, visit www.csh.hw.ac.uk.

The South-West Edinburgh Community Sport Hub, was launched on Friday (January 24) by Shona Robison, Minister for Commonwealth Games and Sport, and Stewart Harris, Chief Executive of sportscotland.  Nine sports clubs are currently part of the Hub – Balerno Bowling Club, Currie Football Club, Currie Rugby Football Club, Currie Star Football Club, Dunedin Netball Club, Edinburgh Spirals Trampolining, Edinburgh Weightlifting Club, Edinburgh Wrestling Club, and Kingsknowe Golf Club.    The hubs objective is to bring local people together and provide a focal point for the local clubs and sports organisations in the area. They also provide information, support, and advice on a wide range of sports and physical activities.  Colin Pearson attended the launch on behalf of the Club and you can watch a short video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FRoRfblqTwY&feature=youtu.be here.
