Club Appoints Iain Lowdean as New Professional

Our new Club professional is Iain Lowdean who joins us from Murrayfield Golf Club.  Iain will take up his position at Kingsknowe on Saturday 16th June.

Iain is a fully qualified PGA Golf Professional, currently working in a team of four professionals and one shop assistant at Murrayfield Golf Club.  With a background in sales and hospitality as well as golf, Iain excels at exceptional customer service and is looking for an opportunity to develop new ideas and drive progress forward as our Club Professional.

Iain has been a Golf Professional since 2011 and through the PGA programme has acquired a wealth of knowledge that he is keen to pass on to as many people as he can.  As a coach, Iain has amassed over 2000+ hours of coaching from individual, Junior, Ladies and Men’s Group coaching and will bring this coavching expertise to the Club.  He continues to play competitively on the Tartan Tour but his true passion is to interact with golfers at a club level. As a Certified Putting Instructor (CPI) and Level 2 Coach, he is keen to continue developing his own skills so that he can provide the best possible coaching and service to all.

Iain grew up in Gloucestershire playing most of his Amateur golf at Minchinhampton Golf Club.  At the age of 12 Iain qualified through the Daily Telegraph competition to represent the South West of England in Spain at San Roque.  At aged 13, Iain won the Junior Club Championship and went on to win the Club Championship, aged 19. He also represented his county and played from a handicap of +1.

Iain’s has a background in Hospitality and Sales & Marketing, from having worked in corporate sales and international event sales. Iain’s degrees are in Golf Studies and Leisure and Sports Management (BA)  Iain met his wife Gin, when travelling across Asia and Australasia and they now have two boys, Toben (4) and Albus (2).  Luckily for Kingsknowe, after two years of living in New Zealand Iain came back to the UK to pursue his passion and start his career in Golf, with the new chapter starting here on Saturday 16th June.

Club captain, Willie Steven was delighted to inform Members and staff of the Golf Club that the recruitment process for the new Club Professional had concluded with the appointment of Iain.  The Board was delighted with the quality of applicants that applied for the position and Iain stood out from the other candidates with a combination of ideas, enthusiasm and experience.
