As we know, the course is playing shorter due to the temporary greens but at least we are open, however we had an incident yesterday whilst a member was putting on the temporary 18th green, a fellow member drove off the 18th tee and their ball landed on the 18th green without a shout of FORE!.
C’mon folks this is basic etiquette and apart from being dangerous, it’s downright rude. Remember if in doubt, shout and just be thankful you can hit the ball as far as that as some of us lesser mortals can’t!
We will not name and shame on this occasion but we can’t let our standards drop, so let’s continue to be aware of our surroundings and respect our fellow members.
Course Maintenance – Tree Work
Billy and the Greenkeeping staff are intending to do quite a bit of tree work this week as part of the woodlands maintenance programme. The wood chipper has arrived and they’re ready to go, let’s hope the weather remains favourable for them.
Melville Driving Range
Finally, I thought it might be of interest to you that Melville Driving Range is still open although it’s not open in the evening. Bookings can be made and are actively encouraged online and I believe midweek opening hours are from 09.00 until 18.00 with last orders at 16.30 and weekends are open until 16.00 with last orders probably around 14.30.
You can turn up on the day and the range starter confirmed he will do all he can to get you a bay, but you may have to wait a while.
Have a good week everybody and please don’t hesitate to contact me if you wish to discuss any of the points raised today.
