Kingsknowe vs Baberton Ryder Cup Match

The sign up for the Ryder Cup event between Kingsknowe and Baberton is now open.

The event is open to all membership categories except Juniors and will take place on Saturday 23rd and Sunday the 24th of September.

The sign up sheet has been posted on the noticeboard in the room which currently holds the match computer (just to the left of the entrance to the main lounge).

We are looking for 72 players across all adult membership categories (unfortunately we are unable to include Juniors for the first year).  If the event is oversubscribed, there will be a random draw to fulfil the allocation.

These players will be split into two groups of 36 with one playing with the Captain and the other playing with the Vice-Captain from each club on both days.

The teams will be broken down into 18 two balls playing four ball better ball format against a pairing from the opposition. Each game will then play a home and away fixture over the two days. If your team is at home on the Saturday you will be away on the Sunday and vice versa.

The event will be a shotgun start at both venues. The exact time of start will be announced as soon as we get confirmation from Baberton however we expect this to be early afternoon.

The purpose of the event is to have a bit of fun between the two clubs in the build up to the actual Ryder Cup.

We are keen to use the event to support the bar and catering at both clubs and therefore encourage everyone entering to make every effort to stay and socialise with your opponents after each match.

There will be a small entry fee of £20 which covers the cost of providing a light meal for each player after their round each day at the club being played.

The £20 will be payable at the bar after the teams have been published and your selection confirmed.

We hope that everyone will support and enjoy this event, which provides a great opportunity for our clubs to come together and compete in the spirit of friendship against our oldest rivals.
